Events we support in 2025

Flymaster XC Challenge welcomes you to the beautiful Southern French Alps in Laragne-Monteglin, where you can fly over amazing landscapes under 300 days of sunshine each year. Whether you’re an experienced competition pilot or taking your first steps into the world of comps, this event is for you.

Laragne-Chabre is famous for its reliable weather, especially in June when long days and consistently nice and strong conditions create an ideal playground for cross-country flying. Chabre will be our primary launch, but if the wind happens to shift to the north, we’ll simply head to a nearby site—Montclar—ensuring you never lose a day of flying. Even if the weather doesn’t cooperate, our team will arrange trips to the Via Ferrata at La Motte du Caire (one of the most stunning in France), the historic town of Sisteron, the Gorges de la Méouge, or the nearby lakes, so you’ll never run out of activities.

As always, the BGD Weightless remains true to its innovative concept of weight-based competition. We continue to challenge the norm of flying heavy by encouraging pilots to use lighter equipment. Our scoring system has been further refined to ensure a fair and exciting competition for all participants, regardless of their weight or wing size.

This year’s event is perfect for pilots of all levels, from those who have just started venturing into cross-country flying to seasoned competitors looking for a unique challenge. The diverse terrain around Chabre offers something for everyone.

Bruce Goldsmith will once again lead the event, supported by highly professional local team – main organizer – Chabre Club, HQ at Camping de Montéglin and Karlis Jaunpetrovics (AKA – Flying Karlis) being your Safety Director.

The event is specifically designed for pilots who have basic cross-country experience but are new to competition flying. Tasks will be set with safety as the primary consideration, taking into account weather conditions and pilot skill levels.

Each day will conclude with a detailed task analysis session where pilots can share their experiences, learn from each other, and receive valuable feedback from seasoned competitors.

This competition serves as an ideal stepping stone for pilots looking to transition from recreational flying to the competitive paragliding scene in a supportive and educational environment.
